MISSION STATEMENT:
The mission of the Ascension School Counselors Association (ASCA) is to promote
positive development and adjustment among the children whom we serve. It is our desire to enhance student achievement and
produce productive members of our society. Also, we encourage the personal and professional development of counselors and
to promote progress, understanding and improvement of counseling services within the educational system.
Counselors provide services in the following areas:
v Crisis Prevention/Intervention;
v Mental and Emotional Concerns;
v Safe Schools and Conflict Resolution;
v Academic and Career Assessment;
v Character Education
v Personal issues such as Grief counseling, self-esteem,
and anger management;
v At-risk and Drop-out Prevention;
v Substance Abuse;
v Child, Adolescence, and Domestic Abuse.
“Professional school counselors have a master’s degree or higher in school counseling
or the substantial equivalent, meet the state certification/licensure standards and abide by the laws of the states in which
they are employed. They uphold the ethical and professional standards of professional counseling associations and promote
the development of the school counseling program based on the following areas of the ASCA National Model: foundation, delivery,
